The major aim of the conference and its events is to connect local Israeli efforts and concerns to the global research and initiatives current in the prevention of genocide. This conference will examine the journeys of forced migrants. It will explore these journeys through the lenses of justice and human rights. A key part of the conference will be to debate better solutions to the problems of injustice and human rights denial that so often taint the journeys of forced migrants. The 12th conference of the International Association for the Study of Forced Migration (IASFM) will be hosted by the University of Nicosia, Cyprus, from 28 June to 2 July 2009. This is the first time in more than a decade that the conference has been held in Europe.
