CFP: Social Justice & Human Rights Conference, The Centre for Philosophy, Religion and Social Ethics (CPRSE), April 27th and 28th 2012, Toronto

The Centre for Philosophy, Religion and Social Ethics (CPRSE) announces its plans for the Social Justice & Human Rights Conference scheduled to take place on April 27th and 28th of the coming year.

The Centre for Philosophy, Religion and Social Ethics is hosting a two-day interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral conference on Social Justice and Human Rights, co-sponsored by Emmanuel College, and taking place on April 27 and 28, 2012 at Victoria University in the University of Toronto. This conference will bring together participants from a wide diversity of interests, such as scholars and lawyers, practitioners engaged in social justice and rights advocacy, leaders from various faith traditions, and other citizens who wish to reflect on the themes of the conference. Lectures, panel discussions and workshops will explore issues such as conflicting rights claims, the administration of justice, children's rights, sustenance rights, immigrant and refugee rights, the rights of people with disabilities and environmental rights. Keynote addresses will be given by Dr. Nicholas Wolterstorff (Yale University) and Dr. Melissa Williams (University of Toronto).

CPRSE is a venture of the Institute for Christian Studies (ICS) in Toronto, an independent graduate school for interdisciplinary philosophy. Conference Director Lambert Zuidervaart is Professor of Philosophy at ICS and at the University of Toronto, and Director of CPRSE.
