B.S. Chimni, Jawaharlal Nehru University, India, is an internationally renowned legal scholar. His areas of expertise include international law, international trade law and international refugee law. Currently he is Professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He has been Vice Chancellor of the W.B. National University of Juridical Sciences, a Visiting Professor at the International Center for Comparative Law and Politics, Tokyo University, a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Harvard Law School, Visiting Fellow at Max Planck Institute for Comparative and Public International Law, Heidelberg, and a Visiting Scholar at the Refugee Studies Center, York University, Canada.

Barbara Harrell-Bond,OBE, American University in Cairo Egypt and Oxford University, UK, is a leading figure in the field of refugee studies. She founded the Refugee Studies Center at Oxford University, the world's first institution for the study of refugees. It now hosts an annual lecture series in her name. She has also founded or helped to found refugee legal aid organizations in several locations, including the Refugee Law Project in Uganda and AMERA (Africa and Middle East Refugee Assistance) in Egypt. In 2005, Harrell-Bond was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for her contributions to refugee studies.

Maja Korac is is a Reader in the School of Social Sciences, Media, and Cultural Studies, at the University of East London, UK. Her teaching, research, and numerous publications are in the areas of gender, ethnicity, nationalism, conflict and post-conflict situations, as well as forced migration, focusing particularly on refugees and internally displaced people in zones of conflict as well as in receiving societies.

Gil Loescher is currently Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for International Studies, University of Oxford, and long-established expert on international refugee policy. For over 25 years, he was Professor of International Relations at the University of Notre Dame in the United States and was a visiting fellow at Princeton University, LSE, Oxford and the Department of Humanitarian Affairs at the US State Department in Washington, D.C. In recent years he has been Senior Fellow for Forced Migration and International Security at the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London and a senior researcher at the European Council on Refugees and Exiles.

Alison Mountz is Assistant Professor of geography at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University. She studies transnational migration with the desire to understand how migrants and states negotiate immigration and refugee policies and international borders. To this end, she has researched human smuggling, detention, interdiction, undocumented migration, border enforcement, and the shrinking space of asylum. Her most recent work is funded by a Research and Writing Grant from the MacArthur Foundation. She teaches courses in feminist, political, and urban geography, research design, and human migration.
