Knowledge Mobilization and Forced Migration

The resources below build on the understanding of KM, with links to KM resources relating directly to the area of forced migration.

KnowledgeMig is based at the School of Social and Political Studies, University of Edinburgh. Its members are active participants of the Migration and Citizenship Research Group, founded by a Marie Curie Excellence Grant which operated between 2004 and 2008. It includes a repository of books and special issues, book chapters, articles and policy briefs relating to knowledge translation and migration policy.

Global Commission International Migration (GCIM)

Centre on Migration, Policy and Society, Oxford, United Kingdom

Migration Policy Institute

The Migration Policy Institute is an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit think tank in Washington, DC dedicated to analysis of the movement of people worldwide.

MPI provides analysis, development, and evaluation of migration and refugee policies at the local, national, and international levels. It aims to meet the rising demand for pragmatic and thoughtful responses to the challenges and opportunities that large-scale migration, whether voluntary or forced, presents to communities and institutions in an increasingly integrated world.

Centre for Migration Studies

“The Centre for Migration Studies of New York (CMS) is a non-profit organization, founded in 1964. Its primary goal is to support and undertake research, and to provide a forum for debate on international migration.

CMS carries out its mission in three ways: circulating books and monographs and publishing International Migration Review, a leading peer-reviewed scholarly journal specialized in the subject of international migration; organizing conferences and forums on international migration, including the National Legal Conference on Immigration and Refugee Policy; and maintaining an archive that collects and makes available documentation on the experiences of people in transit.”

Refugee Studies Centre

“The Refugee Studies Centre is part of the University of Oxford's International Development Centre at Queen Elizabeth House. Its objectives are to carry out multidisciplinary research and teaching on the causes and consequences of forced migration; to disseminate the results of that research to policy makers and practitioners, as well as within the academic community; and to understand the experience of forced migration from the point of view of the affected populations.”
